Program Description

This course is designed to make students feel confident using Spanish with others around them. In this class, students will learn Spanish in a completely immersive environment and will gain the confidence to speak with members of their community and succeed in their upcoming Spanish class. Unlike learning Spanish in a classroom setting, this class will allow students to practice Spanish through engaging conversations, games, and role play with native speakers.

Together as a class, we will learn everything from conversational Spanish to the pronunciation of words. By the end of this course, you will have a foundational knowledge of introducing yourself and meeting new people in Spanish, counting, the alphabet, verbs, vocabulary, and basic conversation! You will begin your language learning journey and will be able to see the community around you in a new way.

This course is great for all beginners! Our class will be well suited for students who are interested in beginning to learn Spanish for the first time. This course would be a great way to prepare for those who are entering Spanish 1 in the upcoming school year either in middle school or high school.

Location: UC Irvine, 92697. The exact location and drop-off details will be provided after registration.

Materials: Students will be required to bring a laptop, binder, and pencils. A backpack is also recommended to hold water and other personal belongings. All project and activity resources will be provided.
